TESTIMONY OF SHEHNAZ ANAYAT

My name is Shehnaz Anayat, and I am a widow. I have a 16 year old daughter named Shavita Anayat. My husband was a heart patient, and we took a loan of 50,000 from the owner of the kiln. Unfortunately, we did not benefit from this loan, and my husband passed away from a heart attack two years ago. At that time, my daughter was in the 5th grade. After her father’s death, she had to leave her studies and work alongside me at the kiln.

Now, we work together for 6 to 7 hours each day, earning between 2,500 and 3,000 each week. We live in our own house with two rooms, and while we have electricity, clean drinking water is not available. Since my husband’s passing, it has been incredibly challenging to continue our lives alone. I also struggle with high blood pressure and diabetes, which weighs heavily on my mind. I often worry about Shavita’s future. If something were to happen to me due to my health issues, I fear for what would become of my daughter.

In these difficult times, I find comfort in the words of Scripture: “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7). I hold on to this promise, trusting that God will provide for us and guide us through our challenges.

TESTIMONY OF SUKHNARI ARIF

My name is Sukhnari Arif, and I am a widow with three children. My eldest daughter, Shifa, is 13 years old and in 7th grade. My son, Luban, is 11 years old and also in 7th grade. My youngest daughter, Bahoor, is 9 years old and in 4th grade. Before my husband developed heart problems, we took a loan of 35,000/- and we were both working to pay off the debt together. Sadly, my husband’s condition worsened, which ultimately led to his passing five years ago. Despite the amount we paid off, I still have debt with interest. I have to take out loans for my children’s education, and I am now working alone at the kiln. It is very hard to cover the expenses of food and education for my children. We live in our own house with one room; while we have electricity, clean drinking water is not available.

As it says in Philippians 4:19, “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” I hold onto this promise as I navigate these challenging times.

TESTIMONY OF NAILA VIKRAM SHAN

My name is Naila Vikram Shan. I am a widow with two young children, Alisha, who is 5 years old, and Jessica, who is 2. My husband passed away due to kidney disease after receiving dialysis for three to four months.

To pay for his treatment, we took a loan of 150,000/- from the owner of a kiln. Now, the remaining loan amount is 70,744/-. It is very hard for me to work at the kiln alone without my husband. I work 5 to 6 hours a day and earn between 3,000 and 4,000 each week. I am able to pay back about 15 to 20% of the loan.

Surviving is really tough because my children are still small, and their expenses are more than what I earn. At this difficult time, I miss my husband a lot. I do my best to take care of them, but it is a constant struggle.

In these trying times, I find comfort in Matthew 11:28: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” This verse reminds me that in my moments of exhaustion and worry, I can turn to God for peace and relief.

TESTIMONY OF RAZIA ARJUN

My name is Razia Arjun, and I am 76 years old. For 35 years, I worked with my husband to build a life full of dreams and love. When he passed away, I was left to face sorrow and responsibilities alone. In my grief, I took a loan of 150,000 from the owner of a kiln to secure my daughter’s future through marriage. This decision was made out of love, but it left me with a debt of 95,000.

Every day, I work hard for 7 hours and only get one day off each week. I earn between 3,500 and 4,000, and I dedicate 15% of that to repaying the loan. Despite the struggle, I hold on to hope. I often think of Isaiah 41:10: “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

These words remind me that I am not alone in my darkest moments. God is with me, guiding me through every challenge. My journey has its hardships, but I believe brighter days are ahead. With all my strength, I strive for a better future for myself and my daughter, trusting that God will provide.

TESTIMONY OF BASHIRA ARIF

My name is Bashira Arif. I am a widow and have three children. My eldest son, Basharat, is 27 years old, Faris is 25, and Haris is 23. Basharat and Haris work with me at the kiln, while my second son, Faris, has been mentally disabled since childhood. We work together for 6 to 7 hours a day, and I earn between 4,000 to 5,000 rupees each week.

My husband passed away from blood cancer 18 years ago, when my children were still young. After his death, my children had to leave their studies to work with me at the kiln. My youngest child, Eram, is 20 years old and got married four months ago. To cover her wedding expenses, we took a loan of 50,000 rupees from the kiln owner.

I suffer from high blood pressure and diabetes, and my medications are costly, making them difficult to afford. We live in our own house, which has only two rooms, but we cannot afford electricity, and clean drinking water is not available where we live. Our house is in such poor condition that we are unsure when it will collapse.

Through all these trials, I hold onto my faith in God’s promise: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
