Health Care Camps

Sadly, there are many people who do not have medical facilities, do not have proper doctors, no hospitals, no testing equipment, no ambulance facility, and also no emergency facility at all.

There were some rural places we visited where there were these facilities available, but people did not have money to afford it anyway. They cannot afford to visit doctor because of doctor consultation fee, and if they did manage to afford it, then they cannot afford to get prescribed medicine by the doctor, some clinics and hospitals are very far away from their living places and they have to go on a rickshaw or taxi which cost them so much money, some people cannot even afford to pay the fare so they just go there by foot and it took them 50 minutes to reach to the clinic or the hospital.

Many people died in these areas by not reaching to doctors at time, by not getting conveyance on time, due to lack of ambulance facility in the area, and also by not having 24/7 medical facility. They mostly died of cardiac arrest, and brain hemorrhage which needed urgent treatment whenever you get a sudden stroke or attack.

Most of the people got diseases like typhoid, diabetes, high blood pressure, pancreas pain, stomach disorder, black jaundice, tuberculosis, and some got very serious diseases like breast cancer, other types of cancer, Paralysis, and Kidney Failure. All these diseases need serious and urgent treatment, require tests, and expensive medication, due to the lack of financial resources people do not even go to doctor for a random checkup, and gradually the disease symptoms increased in their body and later they die due to their poverty.

We collected this data by visiting multiple sites and interviewing 100+ families, we assured them that we will provide them basic medical needs and if someone will be needing urgent medical support from the hospital, we will also provide them and will bear all the financial expenses as well. We will visit them weekly with proper medical equipment, experienced doctor, skilled nurses, medicine, and test kits as well. We will provide everything free of cost, so nobody will die, due to lack of medical treatment, our motive is to serve our community, so they can live their life with the fullest.

These are the stats of the age group of people who needs medical attention:
We conducted a survey of 100 families from different areas, and below are the stats of people who will be needing urgent medical attention, some have mild diseases, and some have very serious diseases which we already discussed earlier which need urgent medical attention. In this graph, children under 10 who need medical attention are 13%, teenagers are 20%, people under 40 are 44%, and the eldest people needing medical attention are under 60 are 23% respectively.

In these rural areas of Pakistan, people do not have basic knowledge of health information. Mostly, rural families suffer because of lack of doctors and no knowledge of hygienic practices and products. We want to initiate this project to bring awareness to these people. We will set free medical camps while providing basic medical information and free personal hygiene kits and medical kits for families. In this way they are able to enhance their quality of life.

Objectives of medical camp:

We want to bring health awareness and medical facility to the rural areas of Pakistan, which often do not have a clinic or doctors to give medical advice and treatment. Most of these people do not know what help they can get from visiting a doctor. In these rural areas the lack of basic health information causes poor health and lower life expectancy or quality of life. These camps make sure people are getting the healthcare at the right time, and seeing the doctor early enough before a small health problem turns serious.

These medical camps will be administered by professional health workers comprising doctor and nurses, to conduct limited health intervention amongst the underprivileged community. The people all around the rural areas will attend these camps to get free check-up and treatment. They will get the appropriate kind of health checkup which is vital for every human being.

Our motive is to conduct health examinations and tests at the early stages of the illness so it can help to cure it faster and save a life before it can cause any serious damage. Studies shows that one can live longer and healthier only when the individual gets the right kind of health check-up, screening, and treatments, on right time, before its too late to recover. Even the most basic checkups can identify underlying illnesses.

These medical camps will provide the poor population overall physical examinations comprising eyes and health check-ups, assessment of the functioning of vital organs like the heart, lungs, digestive system, liver, kidneys, and immune system. These free medical camps will be extremely helpful for the poor population who earn a meager income and cannot afford expensive healthcare services offered by hospitals or clinics.

A Free medical Camp can be considered as a life-saving program that aims to provide free medical and surgical services to poor communities living in rural or urban areas by a mobile team with varieties of medical specialized services. We should believe that it is the moral responsibility and obligation to treat each patient regardless of their incomes, race, or social status. The main objective of these medical camps is to provide initial care to people in life-threatening conditions which reflect the unique strengths and goals of medical ethics. Other objectives are as stated below:

  • To deliver free and high-quality medical services for the poor population.
  • To function as an emergency team in disasters.
  • To formulate health awareness among the community and teach them to deal with minor health issues.
  • To register rare and severe cases and refer them to specialized clinics or hospitals with our own expense.
  • To analyze the living conditions and identify the obstacles and challenges to resolve their problems.
  • To refer medical cases towards surgeries if required on our own expense.

Our needs:

To initiate this project, we will be needing a professional doctor who mostly charge 80 thousand PKR-/ per month, two nurses with 45 thousand PKR-/ monthly salary for each of them. One van for ambulance which will cost PKR 1,134,000-/, medicine, health kits, and test kits will cost us 15 lacs respectively.
